To me the implied inverse narrative of this is more interesting machan. Because it can easily lure people into a false sense of intelligence.
In light of recent events, the current consensus seems to be that Baiyas are dimwits and Toiyas are not. But in reality, most of us (definitely more than 69%) are Baiyas to some approximation.
To be more explicit, there‘s your overt Baiya who unapologetically brandish their wide-eyed conservatism; closeted Baiya who passes themselves off as having centrist views; and several millions of self-acclaimed Toiyas on account of their affinity towards UNP/JVP but unknowingly function as Baiyas for all practical purposes.
This whole country is full of Baiyas in one way or another. Tell me that’s not hilarious.
