Hi Guys,

Got a SLT line last week and this week they are giving ADSL, so now the problem is the phone is setup in the living room, even though its a wireless router, i think its good to have a LAN connection to my pc in my room,

So guys tell me should i 1) put a splitter and extend the cable to my room and connect the router or 2) setup the router in the living room and extend the LAN cable to my room 3) setup the router in the living room and use wifi to connect my laptop

pls let me know what is fast and safe? :eek::confused::):nerd:

    when SLT buggers come to fix your connection ask them to wire it any where you want. :cool: if you are applying for PeoTv they will provide you extended LAN cables and I'm using 10M lan cable to connect my pc to the router. in this way you can use wifi and lan both..

    1) Not good : place the splitter as close as to the ADSL router, so extend the PSTN line to ur room and then put a splitter and connect the router.

    2:Electronically this is OK , but it not looks good to extend a cable from the living room to ur room, i suppose ! ;)

    3). This is good and professional too :yes: considering the speed of the ADSL link (<8Mbps), even though your LAP connection is an Ethernet or a Wifi , you won't feel a difference !!

    However you should keep in mind this: If you share the ADSL connection with more than one phone, each and every phone should be connected with Splitters !!! Coz, analog phones work on 0-4Khz frequency rang and ADSL works on 25-1100khz range. So if an analog phone is connected to the ADSl line without a splitter, there is high a possibility of drooping the high frequency (ADSL- Downstream) communication when both the services are operating (when a tel-call comes )

    good luck :lol:

    1st option or the 3rd option

    i think 3rd way is best solution...:yes::yes:

    Thanks guys! I think i'll go with the WiFi option.:yes::yes:
