    • The IMF said AI will likely affect a greater proportion of jobs - put at around 60% - in advanced economies. In half of these instances, workers can expect to benefit from the integration of AI, which will enhance their productivity.
    • In other instances, AI will have the ability to perform key tasks that are currently executed by humans. This could lower demand for labour, affecting wages and even eradicating jobs.
    • Meanwhile, the IMF projects that the technology will affect just 26% of jobs in low-income countries.

    • Higher-income and younger workers may see a disproportionate increase in their wages after adopting AI.

    • Lower-income and older workers could fall behind, the IMF believes.

    i dont think so
AI/Automation can only replace repetitive simple tasks. If you have specialized skills then you are hard to replace.

i.e. talks didi inne nathuwa aquire skills

of course, this is obvious..(you don't even need to think to arrive at this conclusion)

but who does repetitive simple tasks as there whole day to day job? 60% of the workforce? no way. that's what needs the additional thinking over the original post.

Your simple repetitive tasks can be handed over to the AI, but it won't totally take over you. you will be assigned more tasks that cannot be done by the AI

Simple example, some of the banking processes can be automated. at this point they have people involved, but you can probably cut it down to 50% using automation/AI

Then you case handling, right now we have people coming on call to address issues, but in the future may be AI can be used to answer or least scope issues. Again that removes some of the lower tier jobs.

Like that AI/Automation will remove/reduce multiple layers and only let more specialize people to exist. That is how I see this.

I understand your point, and yes. what you said is theoretically correct, but in that case, all jobs can be taken over by Robots / AI. But look how many "May be"s are there in your reply. We need a lot more time to reach that level (Even now, we don't have any proper application of AI which does anything useful other than analyzing documents etc. Research level products are there, but they are far from replacing humans) . I don't think that would happen within our lifetime. In another 15-20 years, people won't even consider applying for jobs which can be done by the AI, instead, they will focus on more important areas.

SL banks are already running RPA projects. They also have things like chat bots which is a very basic level of automation/AI. So it isn't that far.

Worst part is many are using things like chatGPT to get quick answers, even SW dudes. The problem I see there is
    1. You are helping to train the model
    2. You are also making yourself stupider by not working your brain.
