Meanwhile, SLAF officials said that the situation was gone under total control and added that surch operation were underway for any sort of adverse elements.

SLAF units engaged anti air defence system on suspected terrorist air craft observed in the skies of Katunayake at 10.45 p.m (26.04.2007)

Munza Mushtaq in Colombo, April 26, 2007, 11.34 p.m.. Unconfirmed reports state that security forces are firing into the air after shutting down electricity in Colombo and areas around the Bandaranaike International Airport in a move to prevent any LTTE air crafts entering into the International Airport in Katunayake and the Air force base which is situated adjacent to the airport. Unconfirmed reports state that the radar system at the Katunayake Air Force base has been activated after sounds of an unidentified aircraft was heard, coming towards the air force base from Puttalam. Civilians reportedly alerted the nearby police initially after hearing the sounds of aircrafts, with initial numbers claiming it to be three but a spokesman attached to the media centre for national security claiming that it was one aircraft. Sources also said that the no incidents reported from the international airport, at the time this report was filed.

Sri Lanka Air Force has engaged its air defence weapons at a suspicious air craft observed in the Katunayake sky short while ago.
The suspicious air move has been detected by the air defence radar around 10.45 p.m
The air defence weapon systems have been activated targeting the suspicious air craft in order to avoid possible terror air raid at the Air Force camp. The Air Force sources further conformed that no air raid has taken place and the Air Force base is safe.
