Air strike near oil tanks in Sri Lanka capital: military

(Reuters) -- A rebel Tamil Tiger aircraft dropped bombs near oil storage tanks in the Sri Lankan capital on Tuesday after another raid 250 km north targeting a military base, military sources said.

"The aircraft dropped bombs in Colombo near the oil storage tanks," a military source said on condition of anonymity. Another source confirmed it and said it was under investigation.

power jst came in colombo. i live in col 6 but i saw a few spot lights being switched on from the colmobo area towards da sky.

da pwer went of around 30 seconds after the news that mannar was bombed came to my phone from mobitel news. then later got a news saying aircraft had been sighted in colombo. then later da news came to ma phone saying kalanitissa had been attacked. nw ur saying oil tanks.

does this mean dat LTTE came in more than one plane??

this todays incident brings up a suspision on govts claim sumtime back that they had taken down one plane of LTTE. altho they said that no pics or media coverage of it was available and now today attacks in two different(who knows weather its only two) places within a short time difference and they have escaped also.

WAS THE GOVT LYING ON THE ISSUE THAT THEY HAD TAKEN DOWN A LTTE AIRCRAFT ?????

not really. The SLAF shot down 1 airplane. They still have a few more. They suspect that the LTTE has about 5 of those airplanes in all.

in this incident its not a good idea to use a mig to take down a light aircraft,MI24 will do the jobfor this,but I strongly believer that SLG must take more military power to take down these killers
