Message: <blockquote data-quote="kaavya" data-source="post: 3335307" data-attributes="member: 157">u're welcome bro. yes i also have seen different things in different sites. but i got this info from an official source. launch was delayed mostly due to two main reasons. first one is the interconnection issue they had with other operators. they sorted out that problem last month. second one is the implementation of 3G services. as you may already know Airtel or any other operator in India don't have a 3G network. but since the two major operators in SL are having 3G Airtel also had to come up with 3G services to capture the market. in other words they were compelled to implement it without any technical experience. so they wanted to get the assistance of some experienced party. this is where they requested help from Singtel (Singapore Telekom) which is also a 15% share holder of Airtel india. they had launched 3G services in Singapore few years ago & therefore had lot of experience. Airtel's sri lankan ISP LankaCom is also a subsidiary of Singapore Telecom. so without any hesitation Singtel accepted Airtel's invitation to implement 3G services in SL. ultimately Airtel will get the benefit of Singtel's expertise & will use that knowledge when they launch 3G services in India. so this is the story.</blockquote>
