If you wanna do it cheap, you can plastidip. It's cheap but won't last long.

Painting rims is pretty expensive cz generally it requires a lot of prep work to do it right. (sandblasting / filling / etc)
If chrome rims, it's even more expensive.

IMO It's not worth painting your rims unless they are expensive forged rims like Advan/Volk Racing, BBS, Enkei, OZ, SSR, etc)

Next best option is to get a set of 2nd hand period-correct Japanese aftermarket rims.

Thanks dude. I'll check out plastidip thingy. Mine are japanese stock 16" and it's high time to refresh them. Found some good set of Enkeis, but 17", so I need to replace tyres and tyres are like gold these days.

If it's up to me, I would rather buy the Enkei and wait for tyres just cz most of the stock alloys look bad to me (subjective) and most of them are cast alloys (objective - heavier and weaker).
But do make sure they are real Enkei. There are lots of fake rims from Philippines / Thailand etc. A good set of 2nd hand Enkei (never repaired) would cost you around $400 at least. If it's much lower, its probably fake or repaired / repainted.

Yah, I know. For Enkeis asking price is 55k.. and yah seems genuine. But for with 17", it would mean 225*45*17 , profile is bit too low for my taste. Don't want to spend too much also, coz hoping to spend some on D2 shocks 😌😌

225 will probably be pretty expensive and heavy while 205/45/17R is generally a bit cheaper. But of course it will depend on the width of your rim.

55k is great if forged Enkei alloys. And the value of rims will go higher for sure.
I paid $350 for a set of Volk Racing C-Ultra 17x7 around 2 years ago and now it's $700. (you probably hate how it looks, but I'm using it on a 1995 Astina, so it's the period correct upgrade as seen in Initial D)
