No clues about Anarkali: Police

Wellawatte police said no clues could be found on the whereabouts of actress Anarkali Akarsha who had lodged a complaint claiming that an alleged attempt was made under the influence of Western Provincial Councillor, Duminda Silva to abduct her.
Disclosing the development with regard to the preliminary inquiry into a complaint made by Janitha Anarkali alias Anarkali Akarsha Jayathilake to the Kollupitiya police, Inspector, Lakmal Amarasekara, Crime Branch OIC of Wellawatte police said she had claimed that an alleged attempt was made to abduct her from a house in Swarna Road, Wellawatte on July 3. Kollupitiya police has directed the preliminary investigation to Wellawatte police.
The complainant has stated an attempt was made to abduct her when she came to Wellawatte to sign an agreement for a new film. Wellawatte police said statements were recorded from the film producer, Chaminda Sujeewa Dharmawickrema, director Anuruddha Jayasinghe, actor Mahendra Perera, two residents of adjoining houses and a coordinator of Duminda Silva.
The police further said summons had been issued on a driver of a cab service who has allegedly driven the vehicle in which abductors had come and a production manager of a film to appear in police.
A police also said they went to an address at Rosmead Place given by Anarkali and her mother as their residence but the house owner had stated they had left the place four years ago.
The police stated the investigations were being conducted for last one week and they could not find any clue about the whereabouts of Anarkali or her mother, IP Amarasekara said.
Meanwhile Provincial Councillor Duminda Silva has filed an anticipatory bail application before the Mount Lavinia Magistrate to prevent him from arrest in connection with the alleged abduction incident.
