"The bottom of my screen lost sensitivity after only about 20 days of use. First the very bottom of the screen went out so I could not hit the space-bar on the keyboard, or change to the number/character screen. Then it got worse a few days later, now I cannot hit any of the main function button,201D a user is reported to have said in Apple2019s support forums.

Maybe this is an isolated incident. However, we have to expect these kind of things to happen in an untested technology. This is the first time touch screen in a mobile phone has gone mainstream. First the patent infringement, and now this. Damn! This is not a very good future for the iPhone. Steve Barmer must be very happy about this though

Why not? They have well over 1000 employees at Apple. All they had to do was give a prototype sample to each employee and test it for a whole 6 months or so. Rememeber, iPhone was previewed in early this year. They released it after 6 months. That's more than enough time to test for fitness.
