Depends on the usage and user expertise...

For top quality graphic designing, video editing etc... then Apple
For general purpose usage - Windows
For programming and other expert IT stuff - Open Source.

windows is best for ordinary works and home computers.

if you are doing pro works, mac could help you

look at the best software availability.

if you are interested in gaming, windows is one and only solution. no other BS will help you.

when you have the possibility at your fingertips, why go after damn hard OSes? when windows is offering what you want, why go after some other OSes and try to grab when they dont give you?

if you ever heard of cutting edge computer engineering technologies and if you feels like you want to experience them, your first step could be windows. cos, Apple doesnt give you any newer hardwares, you have to stick into the previous centuries's computer parts!!!! hell!!! if you want to play with Core i7, nvidia GTX 295 and those high end overclocked 2000Mhz DDR3 trippe channel ram kits, well.. windows will only allows you to do that. you cant open a mac. and you will got nothing to do with that kind of moster pc if you put unix on it!! (unless you are into CAD etc)
