القمر فجر الثلاثاء. ولم يتمكن المسؤول الذي كان يتحدث الى وكالة رويترز من تأكيد ما اذا كان اي من ركاب الطائرة الـ 153 قد نجوا.
وكانت وكالة سلامة الطيران والملاحة في افريقيا ومدغشقر - وهي الهيئة المسؤولة عن سلامة الطيران في افريقيا الفرنكوفونية (الناطقة بالفرنسية) ثد ثالت في وقت سابق إن طائرات البحث والانقاذ قد عثرت على حطام طائرة الايرباص المنكوبة.
ونقلت وكالة رويترز عن ابراهيم قاسم احد مسؤولي الوكالة قوله من مطار موروني عاصمة جزر القمر: "لقد شاهدت الطائرات الحطام في موقع الحادث المفترض، ولا نعلم بعد مصير الركاب."
وكان مسؤول حكومي يمني قد اعلن يوم الثلاثاء ان طائرة ركاب تابعة لشركة الطيران الحكومية في اليمن تحطمت في ارخبيل جزر القمر بالمحيط الهندي وعلى متنها 153 شخصا.
وكانت تقارير قد تحدثت عن أن هناك رحلة من صنعاء كانت مقررة حوالي الساعة 02:30 بالتوقيت المحلي (11:30 بتوقيت جرينيتش).
واوضح مسؤول يمني أن غالبية الركاب على متن طائرة الايرباص 310 هم من سكان القمر العائدين من باريس.
وكان مسؤول في سلطة الطيران المدني في جزر القمر قد قال لبي بي سي إن الطائرة كانت في الغالب على بعد كيلومترات معدودة من المطار عندما تحطمت.
وأضاف أن الأحوال الجوية لم تكن جيدة لعدة أيام.
وأوضح المسؤول أن بعض الركاب يحملون الجنسية الفرنسية والقمرية.
وقال مصدر في شرطة جزر القمر ان من المعتقد ان الطائرة سقطت في البحر. واضاف قائلا "في الحقيقة ليس لدينا قدرات للانقاذ في البحر."
وقال أحد السكان الذين يقطنون قرب المطار لبي بي سي إن حوالي 100 شخص كانوا يحاولون الدخول إلى المطار لمعرفة المزيد من التفاصيل، لكن لم ينجحوا في مسعاهم.
وتقع جزر القمر الثلاث الصغيرة في قناة موزامبيق على بعد 300 كيلومتر شمال غربي مدغشقر وعلى مسافة مماثلة الي الشرق من القارة الافريقية.
