Immediately as he assumed the mantle as the chief of Sri Lanka Cricket, Arjuna Ranatunga will automatically receive a promotion as well, as he becomes the new president of the Asian Cricket Council.

"Ranatunga will now head the Asian Cricket Council (ACC)", the CEO of ACC Ashraf-ul-Haq confirmed from Malaysia yesterday.

"He will be the ACC chief for another six months before the post goes to the Pakistan Cricket Board president", he further added.

Sri Lanka's Rumesh Ratnayake, the ACC's Development Officer will visit Nepal from January 6 to 13 on an official assignment ACC also announced.

Ranatunga will assume duties at Sri Lanka Cricket headquarters at Maitland Crescent today at 10 a.m.
