Armed Force Commanders promoted to next higher ranks

Army Chief Sarath Fonseka has been promoted to the rank of General, Navy Chief Wasantha Karannagoda has been promoted to the rank of Admiral and Air Force Chief Roshan Goonathilake has been promoted to the rank of Air Chief Marshal. General Sarath Fonseka, Admiral Wasantha Karannagoda and Air Chief Marshal Roshan Goonathilake become the first Sri Lankan Armed Forces Commanders to hold four star ranks while in active service.
