Bodu Bala Sena (BBS) General Secretary Ven. Galagodaatte Gnanasara Thera today said the police could arrest him and other BBS members if they were the cause for Aluthgama riots and if the consequences of the riots could be mitigated by arresting them.
The Thera charged some Government Ministers and members of the Opposition were blaming the BBS on the incidents that occurred in Aluthgama without finding the root cause of the incident.
“What happened in Aluthgama was unexpected and unfortunate. The accusations of the Ministers and Opposition, including the Opposition Leader are baseless. If the consequences of the incident could be solved by arresting us as claimed by these Ministers, we request the government to arrest us,” he told a news conference yesterday.
