But in SriLanka we don't have many reports of Mesothelioma. This is probably because even though we call it asbestos, it's a mixture of cement and asbestos. Cement binds the asbestos fibres and they do not get away unless the asbestos  starts to deteriorate or decay. It's these asbestos fibres that cause the cancer. In other countries asbestos was used as fire proofing.I believe we have already banned the blue asbestos since a long time. I am not so sure about the composition of the roofing sheets, maybe someone who knows can reply. Also there seems to be a genetic factor where blacks can tolerate this more than the white races.</blockquote>
