The authorities have raised serious concern over people's carefree attitude in the aftermath of the lifting of curfew in the country.

State Minister Channa Jayasumana said the people are seen gathering in large numbers in places of worship and other places.

He told the media today that Sri Lanka is still not out of the woods as yet in terms of the COVID-19 situation.

The State Minister said people seem to be taking things for granted and enjoying themselves without realising the imminent danger.

“That's the very reason why the travel restriction has been extended. However, people are seen behaving as if the pandemic is over; but it is not,” he pointed out.

“This pandemic has dragged on for such a long time. If we are to put an end to this, we should act more responsibly, especially in a situation where measures like curfew are not in effect,” he added.

Thus, Minister Jayasumana invited people to leave no stone unturned in the race against the pandemic so that everyone would be able to see a silver lining of the dark cloud formed by COVID-19.

Even he could understand the severity of the pandemic and the importance of avoiding large gatherings, apparently there are people out there who doesn't have the mental capacity of a proven buffoon
Of course the guy's not stupid.
But here we're speaking about the Haiti of Asia, people are doomed, catching covid is the least of their concerns. What is more shameful is seeing politicians trying to pass the blame to the public. Nobody cares about masks even here in the US, neither do many like it. Still, we don't see politicians blaming the population. Because everyone knows that it was Trump's fault.
For this scoundrel of a professer to blame people after all him and his gang have done, that's nuts.

I don't see how Americans refusing to get vaccinated and refusing to wear face masks is Trump's fault.
His failure to manage it better doesn't justify the sheer idiocy of said Americans, and if he calls them out on it he'd be in the right.

For this scoundrel of a professer to blame people after all him and his gang have done, that's nuts.

In the same vein I don't see how people attending religious gatherings despite clear warnings from the health authorities is Channa's fault.
