(LeN-2007 April 26, 7.30pm) Our Tamilnadu reporter says former cricket captain Arjuna Ranatunga who attended a television discussion in one of the TV stations in Tamilnadu had thoroughly criticized Sri Lankan cricket, the select committee and some of the players on the day which Sri Lanka took on New Zealand in the semi finals.
The discussion had been hosted by popular actress Mandira Bedi and the other guest was Sri Lanka's lovable commentator Toni Greg.
Speedster Lasith Malinga and Chamara Silva who is being spoken as a future Aravinda De Silva were the two players that were criticized Arjuna brutally. He had said that Malinga's rhythm was affected as he didn't play the Australian game and also that his brother in law Marvan Atapattu should play in place of Chamara. He also criticized the chairman of the select committee for keeping Marvan as a reserve player. (Marvan was a reserve player in the 1996 world cup as well)
Arjuna had gone on to call the Lankan cricketers as "Hungers" and Tony Greg had intervened and said they were "Smart". At the beginning of the tournament Arjuna had said that the Cup would be won by India. But India was thrown out of the tournament from the first round itself clearly demonstrating Arjuna's analyzing abilities.
