China’s Sinopharm to supply vaccine at $10 each to Bangladesh

Bangladesh will buy each dose of Covid-19 vaccine of the Chinese company Sinopharm at US$10.
The cabinet committee on government purchase on Thursday approved a proposal of the health ministry in this regard.
Sinopharm will supply a total of 15 million doses of vaccines in the upcoming June-August period, five million per month, at a total cost of $150 million.
Bangladesh turned to China and Russia for vaccines after India suspended the supply of agreed amount of AstraZeneca’s Covid-19 vaccines from Serum Institute of India.
Serum was supposed to provide a total of 30 million jabs to Bangladesh but as the coronavirus situation deteriorated in India, the company stopped supplying after sending only seven million jabs in two instalments.
Local conglomerate Beximco had been supplying the AstraZeneca’s vaccine to the Bangladesh government at US$5.0 each, after collecting from Serum.

Do not curse them. You and me and our friends appointed them to do this, after they did the same from 2006-2015 . Did we forget they build Mattala , Hambantota and many other non profitable ventures from short term loans from China.
Now brother of MR is continuing what he did . China would have given it cheaper to SL after what they got in port city. But they cannot give it as they have to bribe left right and all .... so the price is $15 to Sri Lanka. This is our Viyathmaga appointed cabinet with 85% temperature minister for Port who brought a dangerous cargo to port when India with all its expertise had refused to deal with dangerous cargo for lack of expertise . We boasted that we have expertise to deal when India did not? This is again how corruption has overcome inevitable outcome, which can be understood by industry experts not our corrupt ministers
China was selling this vaccine for $60 (two doses) for their own people too.... Then the prices started to fall down for obvious reasons. Usually vaccine prices are negotiated at the Government levels and are not made public. But there are some sites that do publish these.
The Oxford vaccine is not for profit basis and hence the cheapest, the Russians priced it quite sensibly.
