The JVP was today forced to hold a public rally in scattered conditions using the gardens of friendly neighbours at Divulapitiya after the scheduled venue was cut off with a barbed wire fence, a party spokesperson said.
The rally, in support of the common candidate General (retd.) Sarath Fonseka was to be held at the public play ground in Divulapitiya.
However unknown persons had blocked off all entrances to the ground with a barbed wire fence making it impossible to enter the area, the spokesperson said, adding that pro-government goons were suspected to be behind the incident.
