Interim results from the Phase III trials of Covaxin by Bharat BioTech, a 24 year old Indian vaccine maker claims that their vaccine has a high efficacy for most of the varaints.

The vaccine is an "inactivated vaccine" - it uses a killed Corona virus itself. The two doses are given four weeks apart. The vaccine can be stored at 2 deg C to 8 deg C. Preliminary data shows an efficacy of 78%.
Their Phase III study enrolled 25,800 participants between 18-98 years of age, including 10 per cent over the age of 60, with analysis conducted 14 days post second dose.

Final data will be out within a couple of months, and if the claim is true they seem to have done a pretty good job. All other inactivated vaccines have far less efficacy including the Chinese one. In theory an inactivated vaccine should work best and its effectiveness should last longer - but till now all failed to achieve it.

The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) who is the co-developer states that Covaxin is effective against various variants in UK, Brazil and also against the double mutant.

They also are working on a single dose Nasal Vaccine which is in the final stages of development.

Pls watch the WION video which has further details.....
