National Freedom Front's Administrative Secretary, Achala Jagoda has urged the Inspector General of Police to take immediate action to arrest the person who is sending a bogus SMS message via mobile phone to various people saying that the NFF's maiden rally to be held at Nugegoda has been cancelled.

The false message - sent from mobile phone number 0729012950 - says, "The public rally of the National Freedom Front scheduled to be held on 30th June is cancelled due to security reasons, says MP Wimal Weerawansa – Ada Derana"

Jagoda too has received this on his CDMA phone 060-2084642. He alleges that a certain political group that does not wish to see the success of the rally is behind the attempt to sabotage it

In his letter to the IGP, Jagoda notes that this is a very serious offence not only because the message is misleading the public but also gives a wrong impression about a private television channel which has nothing to do with this announcement.

Among those who have received the bogus messages is NFF Western Provincial Councilor Priyantha Bellana.

Inquiries have revealed that the mobile phone - from which the false messages are sent – belongs to a person by the name of N.K.P. Kumara residing at Gangarama Road, Kalutara.

NFF Admin Secy. Jagoda assures that the party's maiden rally will take place as scheduled at the Ananda Samarakoon open air theatre, Nugegoda on Monday June 30 at 3.00 p.m.
