That doesn't seems a legit argument given US foreign policy doesn't change much regardless of whether it is republican party is in power or the democrats. They are still pushing for human right issues, reconciliation, transparency etc etc. It was very evident in Mike Pompeo's recent visit too.  The banning SL military chief's entry  to the US was not happened out of the blue right? It clearly has its roots in the issues that were raised in previous Obama Administration and those issues are carried on to the Trump administration too. Also everybody knows they've been pushing for SOFA and MCC for past few years. I would say US's attention on SL's strategic importance has increased a lot during past 4 to 5 years. More than ever. Those efforts are all parts of US foreign policy regardless of who is in power. So its a stupid thing to believe that the US's stance on SL or any other foreign country changes based on which party or which individual is in power.
