Wondering about the universe may have lead to the discovery of spaceships, theories of evolution etc. but it's not that clear to me how it all would make life more relaxed and happy for us. If at all, it would have made life more complicated and most of the inventions in that line have nothing much to offer for the average person. Can you explain this point further with some examples?

You are right. I was telling about the human discovery nature in that point...

You say right. I think In Broad sense Life has been relaxed for the peoples In many way because of new discoveries..modern way of travelling, globalization, and many other basic necessaties of life etc. but in close sense it has made complication in the society..Man is going to become a machine...there is the lack of ethical values, relation, there is difference in the society etc.
However, I think peoples are respossible more than new technology in arising these and other problems in the worlds.

What Baum et al are suggesting here is that when the universe is contracting there will be a separate pocket universes devoid of matter, with the exception of dark energy, so these universe can adiabatically, in the normal thermodynamic sense, contract with entropy increasing only infinitesimally.

Brother Sorry for taking so long to reply; but I've been busy lately. But anyway, here's my reply:

Hi, I must admit this theory is new to me, and it took me some time to get my head around it. It does fail to respond to the problem of entropy in my opinion, for the following reason.

While I grant that indeed, it solves the issue of entropy reducing at each cycle; it does so by drastically reducing the total amount of energy within the (our) universe. This isn't really solving the issue but rather shifting it. Sure entropy is by-passed, but with a decrease of total energy at every cycle. Under these conditions the cyclic model doesn't hold philosophically either. This model seems to be forgetting the obvious relation between the amount of energy in a closed system and entropy. Entropy is only meaningful for a set amount of energy in the first place.

To illustrate this:
Our universe appears to have a finite amount of energy. So in order to make the theory work. Supporters must choose between:
A) At some point a universe with infinite energy can cause some of it's causal patches to have a finite amount of energy. But then entropy is re-introduced on a larger scale (intra-universal entropy if I may).
B) All universes in all cycles have a finite amount of energy, which obviously doesn't allow the model to go back infinitely either.

So, what is big bang anyway ?

The big bang theory, is a theory in physics that explains how the universe evolved from it's primitive state up to it's current. It does not explain how the universe originated, or what caused it to exist. It simply explains how the universe behaved after it originated!

The Big Bang was the event* which led to the formation of the universe.

event-In physics, and in particular relativity, an event indicates a physical situation or occurrence, located at a specific point in space and time.
