Above letter is excellent. But I think you wanted to add the date you took no pay leave too. So it's better to amend the first sentence as:


I would like to inform you that I have obtained only a single day of no-pay leave which was 11-08-2011 for the month of August.


And if you don't call your boss by name then address him as "Dear Sir"
