Bomb targeting Panadura-Colombo train, neighbouring crowd averts disaster

The Police have confirmed that the blast had targeted the Panadura-Colombo office train. According to reports the suspect was seen carrying the bomb by the people from the surrounding area. When the crowd noticed the suspect bomber they had shouted upon which he had thrown the bomb at the railway track and fled. The train had just passed by when the blast occurred and it is alleged that he had intended to target the second carriage.

Eighteen admitted with minor injuries

Eighteen injured persons were admitted to the Kalubowila Hospital with minor injuries following the Dehiwala blast, its Director Dr. Wilbert Kumarasinghe said.

bomb has been exploded in a location along the rail track between Wellawatta and Dehiwala railway stations this morning. According to the available information explosion occurred around 7.10 a.m and six civilians who suffered injuries are now being evacuated to the Kalubowila teaching hospital. Minor damages reported to the railway track, police sources added.
