This very obliging bittern took up residence at Slimbridge (Gloucestershire) in January 2007. Four reliable places to see the Bittern is at Fishers Pool in the Lee Valley (Essex), Leighton Moss (Lancashire), Minsmere (Norfolk) and Upton Warren (Worcestershire).​

Serins are found in groups, in parks, gardens, churchyards, cemeteries and other suburban locations that offer dense cover. Confined to the south and south east of England.​
