Broad band modem

can i buy those usb modems for broad band from open market at a lesser price. will operators airtel,dialog.etc will issue their connections to that. what is the minimum price it can be bought and where please help

Yes, you may use other USB modems, but, they will cost higher than direct ISP purchase. Because, when buying from a ISP, you pay monthly rental for the connection too, But in market, you'll have to much money directly.
In the market, it will cost above Rs.20 000/=

In ISP;
Dialog: E220: Rs.9900/=
Airtel: C120: Rs.10 700/=

thanks bro. but i heard that these modems can be purchased at a very low price round 3-4 k. if you buy modem from ISP, those are locked. so you have to be with one provider all the time and buy a new one for next connection. where the location these modems are available to buy?

The modems currently available are supports only mobitel & dialog, i don't know airtel. Just search through the net, compare prices, then you can guess sri lankan price.
