SLIIT degree is good... But the problem is, like all other local universities, it is not diverse in terms of perceptions and ideas.. So when graduates go to industries, they feel like there are being obsolete. So no matter you select SE or not, but make sure you read books, magazines (i.e. Readers Digest, Time), watch news (CNN, BBC, etc), and learn the world beyond Sri Lanka. This is a reason why most graduates from APIIT and IIT are climbing the corporate ladder so fast than others (even though they start with lower salaries). I've being in the same process machang unfortunately..
