Buying a cell phone from a foreign market

Do all type of cell phones support mobile services in Sri Lanka?

Some companies say that before purchasing phones, to verify with the mobile phone service provider whether that particular phone works wtih the particular mobile service .

pls consider following before u buy mobile fro abroad.
1. make sure it is gsm and working frequency 900mhz/1800mhz support(tri band gsm, quad band gsm no problem)
2. it is not lock(some models cant unlock yet), u can easily test it with srilanka's sim
3. only cdma phone cant use within srilanka

i dont know about 6265i, if it is work gsm 900/1800 no problem here in SL

if u get message like 'invalid sim' or 'phone restricted'
phone is locked one.
otherwise it work normal with sim
