The special cabinet meeting that was called today to discuss the disputed petrol price fixed by the Supreme Court, met from 06.00 till around 07.30 in the evening and concluded once again without taking a decision on the price of petrol says, government information sources.
The same sources say the President who chaired this special cabinet meeting had informed the cabinet that it had still not received any official notice on the Supreme Court decision to take any decision.
Price of a litre of petrol therefore would remain at LKR 122/- accordingly, despite the SC ruling that it be reduced from midnight yesterday (Dec 17).
Meanwhile "LankaDissent" learns, the new Attorney General has been asked, whether a motion could be filed with the SC tomorrow, requesting a revision on the price as adviced by the Cabinet of Ministers.
Tomorrow is the last day before courts' vacations begin for the Chiristmas.
