The Caltex Inter-Provincial tournament for 2006 organised by the SLRFU and sponsored by Caltex Lubricants Lanka Limited will kick off on September 24 and will last till October 7 (Saturday).
The teams who will vie for the Caltex Provincial trophy will be Southern Province RFU, Defence Services, Central Province RFU and the Western Province RFU.
The Rugby Union have decided to appoint a head coach to each team and all Sri Lanka poolists are expected to represent the four Provinces making for a competitive tournament.
The four coaches assigned to the respective Provinces will be as follows.
Tony Amith (Southern Province), Willie Hetaraka (Defence Services), Tulaga Tawita (Central Province) and Pa Enari (Western Province) respectively.
The upcoming tournament will also be an ideal yardstick for selectors to base their selections before naming a final Sri Lanka squad for the November Singer Asiad to be held in Colombo.
