depends on ur budget mate, if ur completely novice to photography and you have no idea about composing, Exposing and Post Processing Photographs you should try a Point and Shoot camera first, to see if you really got it in you, lets be honest not everyone can be a good photographer, take a compact digital cam and play with it, and if you over grow it, then you should get a DSLR, the selections are vast, when ur getting a Compact camera get a Canon one, they tend to be a bit better than other compacts, as for DSLR's theres Nikon, Canon, Pentax, Sony, Olympus and Panasonic, all DSLR cameras are quite expensive. I use Nikon products my self and my DSLR is a Nikon D60, it will cost you 79K.
