Well ofcourse you can. Even I have a few girls who are close friends of mine. At times you feel you can talk to a girl about something important in a much better way than with a guy friend.

Anyway the thing is most tend to build certain expectations after a while being friends. I aint saying its wrong but c'mon you should not always get into that level of thinking or let your feelings go out of control. Have to be sensible. True, many can't do that. I know a guy who thinks when a girl tend to talk with interest and share thoughts n ideas with him its 'coz she likes him beyond friendship. Thats a very wrong attitude. This is clearly lack of judgement and understanding.

So anyway this totally varies from one person to another 'coz it lies on a person's level of thinkng n attitude. But in my view its absolutely possible to be "just friends" nevertheless.

And the other point is that we can have cool friends from the opposite sex but the moment 1 gets really really close to you its inevitable i guess
