* Air strikes continue in Sri Lanka to support ground troops and Navy

Dec 20, Colombo:

Sri Lanka Air Force fighter jets carried out several air strikes since early morning today targeting LTTE defences and strategic locations in Wanni in support of the advancing ground troops and the Naval vessels engaged in a sea battle with the Tigers.

Defence sources said fighter jets pounded Sea Tigers fleeing the naval battle in the pre dawn hours of today off the Eastern Mullaitivu coast.

Another set of air strikes was launched to support the advancing Task Force -1 and 57 Division troops at the Wanni battlefront causing heavy damages to the rebels Air force Spokesman Wing Commander Janaka Nanayakkara said .

Another air strike was launched at LTTE targets, 3 km north of the Mullaitivu lagoon at around 5.30 a.m. the Spokesman added.

Fighter jets attacked LTTE strong points located east of Iranamadu junction and LTTE bunker line located west of Paranthan in support of the task Force 1 infantry battalions.

Later, the Air force jets made two successive air sorties, West and Southwest of Kilinochchi at around 2.30p.m, the Spokesman further said.
