    What epidemiologists fear most is the health care system becoming overwhelmed by a sudden explosion of illness that requires more people to be hospitalized than it can handle. In that scenario, more people will die because there won’t be enough hospital beds or ventilators to keep them alive.

    This explains the same, which I posted in the main Corona thread couple of days back.

    From 22.14 , he explains why countries need to take drastic measures to contain the virus spread. You can't stop it and it keeps coming. But these measures will slow down the rate. So, many unnecessary deaths due to the limitation of healthcare system capacity, can be avoided.
