Message: <blockquote data-quote="rajitha_ks" data-source="post: 17111356" data-attributes="member: 162025">i used several different multimeters with consistent results so i'm pretty sure the alternator is putting out too much voltage..this might sound a bit strange but this is how it all started..my battery went dead one day so i took it out and charged it with my battery charger.. car ran fine for about a week and again the battery went dead.. this time i charged it again, put it inside the car and checked the voltage with engine running.. 15.5 volts..then i swapped the alternator with a reconditioned unit twice.. with all the alternators 15.5 volts but with my last swap, battery seems to be holding charge but it smells acid all over the place..battery seems to be doing okay when charged with a battery charger.battery is about 13months old</blockquote>
