Message: <blockquote data-quote="ahamednishadh" data-source="post: 3000902" data-attributes="member: 4368">In one of the bizarre events reported from the Department of Registrar of Persons, a chief clerk was arrested by the Bribery Commission for allegedly soliciting sex  as bribe to issue a National Identity Card quickly.The suspect was nabbed at his office yesterday morning by a special bribery commission team while taking a cash bribe of Rs. 2000 from a female applicant and also requesting her to come out with him.The Director Bribery Commission Investigation Division, Neville Guruge told the Daily Mirror that a young woman residing in Bulathsinhala area had applied for an NIC through the chief clerk two days ago.The chief clerk promising to issue the NIC quickly as possible had demanded a sum of Rs. 2000 allegedly to be paid for his immediate boss and solicited sex.Surprised by his lewd proposal she had pointed out to him that he was an old and a father-like person to make such a move.Anyway the woman after agreeing had complained to the Bribery Commission.The suspect would be produced before the Colombo Chief Magistrate today.-DM</blockquote>
