People mastered by the need for more
My friends, it is human nature to seek more and more, no matter how much we receive from God we want to ask more. Religion is also a part of our life, when we are worshiping God, praying to God, asking from God we tend to ask more. However God has told us to be happy with what we have, however despite this advice people tend to want more. In the past few years many individuals in the Catholic church have started to address these needs and wants, full filling every want of the people. People who’s wants are mostly based on others, others who have no idea of what they are doing.
Charismatic worship is a need currently being full filled by the Catholic Church. This need has come from people seeing Charismatic worship in many foreign religions and was introduced to reach out to people who have no faith or education of God due to the simple learning is boring subject. Charismatic worship tends to give more and more to worship. The singing of songs instead of hymns, dancing, clapping tends to bring out excitement in people, excitement they already live in. Charismatic movements argue that more they shout, sing, dance, clap God comes to them more, so in short, this means that the traditional Catholic mass we Catholic’s attended for centuries is not powerful enough. This also brings on the question if the catholic Sunday mass is to be replaced by Charismatic worship simply because it’s more powerful and more attractive. Though at first glace this may seem “its not going to happen, its just a prayer service”, but the root of issue being the "need for more" I suppose anything is possible. Further this Charismatic worship is a fast method into religious extremism, but in life when people fall into problems like a house built on sand their collapse of faith is very dangerous.
Recently many Charismatic movements have appointed "Thaththa's", men in jeans and shirts blessing people and promising a better bridge to God. A person who has not qualified to to become a Priest, guiding people to God on church altars or self made ones. Charismatic movements are also targeting Youth movements because of the simple fact that Youth enjoy this (who doesn’t like to dance?). And further more it tends to create an open “un-odd” environment within the Youth who are to be the future of the Catholic Church. If an entire congregation in the future requests Charismatic worship instead of Sunday mass who is to say magical word “No”? Also since this Charismatic worship links up with “foreign” religions which have no dress codes, and more financial benefits, more intervention, and influence who is to hold the people?
Pray for a better future my friends!
