Prime Minister Scott Morrison has pushed back on criticism of his trip to Sydney over the Father's Day weekend.
Mr Morrison flew from Canberra to Sydney and back over the weekend, which allowed him to see his family on Father's Day, after he was given an exemption to return.
Speaking on Sky News, Mr Morrison said there had been a lot of "misinformation" about the trip.
Earlier, Labor frontbencher Bill Shorten told Today that Mr Morrison's exemption was not fair to ordinary Australians who were also separated from their family due to lockdowns on Father's Day.
"It's not that he doesn't deserve to see his kids but so does every other Australian and I think when your people are doing it tough, you've got to do it tough too," Mr Shorten said.
Mr Morrison retorted on Sky, calling Mr Shorten's comments about his judgement "a bit of a cheap shot" and "cheap politics".
Mr Morrison flew to Sydney on one of the Royal Australian Air Force's business jets on Friday afternoon.
He then returned to Canberra early on Monday morning to attend a national security meeting.
