The Chiefs have continuing thier winning ways as they beat the Reds 32-20 in a very entertaining Rebel Sport Super 14 clash at Waikato Stadium in Hamilton.

Chiefs first five-eighth Stephen Donald didn't take long to show his class as he recovered a clever kick to score under the posts and chalk up the first points of the match.

Donald converted his own try and stretched the lead to seven points after six minutes of play.

The home-sides exciting play soon continued as flying winger Lelia Masaga recieved a great passed and blitzed down the right hand touchline to score the second try of the night allowing Donald to again slot the extras.

Berrick Barnes reduced the gap in the 14th minute as he nailed a superb dropped-goal and reduced the gap to 11 points.

The Reds were hot on attack for around 15 minutes before play re-entered Reds territory and Donald added another three points through a penalty kick and took the score to 17-3.

Reds fullback Clinton Schifcofske was then sent off for illegally taking out Masaga and the homeside began to apply pressure to the visitors.

Masaga mustn't of felt the impact of the illegal tackle as in the very next play he showed some amazing athleticism to score a wonderful try moments before the half time hooter.

Donald added the extras giving the Chiefs a valuable 21 point lead at the break.

The Reds must have had a real rev-up at the intermission as a huge forwards-drive resulted in centre Morgan Turinui dotting down in the corner.

Barmes attempted conversion was slightly off target, the score remaining at 24-8.

A brilliant Reds set move sliced open the Chiefs defence and allowed replacement Digby Ioane to score in the corner.

Schifcofske conversion attempt struck the upright and deflected leaving just an 11-point gap after 50 minutes of play.

The Chiefs defence looked woeful as they soon allowed Turinui to again score, the Reds racking up 17 unanswered points since the break after a sucessful Schifcofske conversion.

Stephen Donald was able to shake some of the pressure in the 56th after his succesful penalty kick stretched the gap to seven points.

Sione Lauaki intercepted a Barnes pass and sprinted almost the entire length of the field before wrestling through a Reds tackle and touching down in the corner, the score moving to 32-20 after Donald missed the conversion.

The Chiefs kept the pressure on the Reds all the way through to full time and claimed full points from the game.

Chiefs 32 (Masaga 2, Donald, Lauaki tries, Donald 3 conversions, Donald 2 penalties)
Reds 20 (Turinui 2, Ioane tries, Schifcofske conversion, Barnes dropped-goal)

Half time: 24-3
