The reason is most probably (just after a bit of googling)
is dat the guy who has serviced it has put maybe the very latest updates for your phones...and the SIM does not comply with the standards of the security of the latest firmware...

And how old is your SIM card????

mmm 3-4 years
ya I tried with another SIM card and the same prob appears.
btw I was told by our ek member heshanperis that I need to re-install the OS :)

anyways yesterday nyt my phone displayed "inactivated Sim" at the place where "Sri Dialog" appears. I switched off the 4n and then switched it on. Then "Sri Dialog" appeared so I was able to get calls n etc.:) any idea abt it?

Ciphering helps to encrypt the communication machang. So no ciphering = no encryption = anyone with the knowledge can wiretap (eavesdropping) your communication easily.

I don't know why it happened. But I think you might need to re-flash the phone.

But if you're not using the phone for very private matters, then don't waste your energy into it. Coz in Sri Lanka, I don't think still it's easy to get access to equipments to eavesdrop.
