The Barbarian is the fastest troop to train at only 20 seconds,  so they are used mostly for meat shields for <a href="http://clashofclans.wikia.com/wiki/Wall_Breaker" target="_blank">Wall Breakers</a>, and then <a href="http://clashofclans.wikia.com/wiki/Archer" target="_blank">Archers</a> and <a href="http://clashofclans.wikia.com/wiki/Goblin" target="_blank">Goblins</a> (at lower ranks), <a href="http://clashofclans.wikia.com/wiki/Wizard" target="_blank">Wizards</a> (mid to high ranks). They are  quite effective solo, but they are also very capable in groups. Archers  are commonly used with <a href="http://clashofclans.wikia.com/wiki/Dragon" target="_blank">Dragons</a> and <a href="http://clashofclans.wikia.com/wiki/Balloon" target="_blank">Balloons</a> at later levels. At lower levels, some players use Archers with <a href="http://clashofclans.wikia.com/wiki/Giant" target="_blank">Giants</a> or <a href="http://clashofclans.wikia.com/wiki/Barbarian" target="_blank">Barbarians</a> as meat shields, because <a href="http://clashofclans.wikia.com/wiki/Barbarian" target="_blank">Barbarians</a> and <a href="http://clashofclans.wikia.com/wiki/Giant" target="_blank">Giants</a>  have more HP, while Archers can shoot over walls. Archers can only  shoot at a distance of 3.5 tiles, though, so bear that in mind.) </blockquote>
