Media Centre for National Security (MCNS) said that at least eleven terrorists were killed and another injured in five separate incidents between SL army soldiers and LTTE terrorists at Jaffna and Wanni defences yesterday (December 20).
At the Jaffna theatre of battle, troops confronted with LTTE terrorists at Kilaly, Nagarkovil and Muhamalai fronts killing 8 terrorists and destroying two of their bunkers.
On the Kilaly front, troops clashed with a group of LTTE infiltrators around 5.45.a.m. Ground sources have claimed that two LTTE cadres were killed in this incident.
In a similar incident on the Nakarkovil front, troops confronted with a group of LTTE cadres around 9.a.m. Two LTTE cadres were reported to have died in this incident.
Security Forces suffered no own casualties in either of the incident, the MCNS added.
The latest incident at the Jaffna defence reported at 11.30 a.m. as the troops carried out a preemptive strike at the LTTE bunker line ahead of Muhamalai Forward Defence Line (FDL). Ground sources claimed that two LTTE bunkers were destroyed and four terrorists killed in the battle that was lasted for about three hours. In addition, two soldiers sustained serious injuries and admitted to Palaly military hospital.
Separately, at the Wanni defence, MCNS said that 3 LTTE cadres were killed by troops in Kokkuthuduwai and Kambiliyawa areas on the Welioya front at 9.30 a.m. and 12.30 p.m. today. Out of the three LTTE cadres that were perished, one was killed in a confrontation at Kokkuthuduwai, while the other two were killed at Kambiliyawa, MCNS added.
On the Vavuniya front, another LTTE cadre was killed and one injured when troops clashed with a group of LTTE cadres detected in the Mullikulama area around 11.30 a.m.
