FD`s (fixed deposits) are one of the biggest scams in this world..
All you have to do is to check the FD rate and the real inflation rate of the country per year (regradless the country you live in). You`ll find that the inflation rate is generally highter (even by a small margin). This generally means that you loose money (called "negative real interest rate" in economics). There could be the odd year or two where this is not the case, but generally, most countries run negative real interest rates most of the time.
When there`s tax being deducted from FD income, this becomes worse...
"FD ekak daala aaathal eke innawa..." >> one of the worse financial decisions.. Might work ok for very old people though (since they dont have to future build wealth anymore)..
