Great news for people who are tired of getting a credit card and maintaining it or afraid to use there credit cards for online purchases. Now you can actually use your debit card and purchase goods from all-most all online retailers (90% of it). Previously for a person who did not have a credit card the only option was the web card which was offered by Sampath bank and later by HNB. These cards were not actually debit cards because you cant insert them to an ATM and withdraw money. These were strictly for online payments and needed to top up every now and then. If you dont have online banking then that means it is a rough ride to the bank and staying in queues for topping up.But not anymore. We have just learned that commercial bank shopping and debit cards have the ability to pay for online purchases. We got the news from the bank itself and tested on few ebay purchases. It worked.
