VOICE TO THE VOICELESS Every one of us goes through different types of hardships in our lives. The severity of these hardships may vary, but among us there is a set of people, who have no ability to stand on their feet and make a remedy for the problem they are facing due to poverty, lack of education, personal defects, etc. These mute victims need a voice that could speak out their tragedy to the world. Social workers are a set of people who dedicate themselves to find justice to those who doesn’t have a voice of their own. Social workers scattered all over the world is trying to make the life better for victims of all sorts of tragedies. Our attempt is to give them a “microphone” that shout out to the world in behalf of the numerous silent victims in the world.

WHAT IS SPEAK UP! COMMON PLATFORM Speak Up! supplies a common platform to all the social workers around the world to communicate their efforts, needs and hopes to us. To raise their voice on behalf of the silent victims, make the world aware of the tragedies and the solution, get support for their endeavors in making the life of these victims a bit better. After all, social work is a community effort. Speak Up! makes it easy for the front line social workers to bring their message to compassionate hearts who are willing to help.

TRIGGER POINT Speak Up! is a trigger point to many inspired ideas. Speak Up! is build to inspire many passive compassionate hearts to be active social workers. With this system, a normal day to day person could do a change to a victimized soul thousands of miles away from his location.

Speak Up! for a better world.

Poverty is one of the main problems faced by the world over the years. Many factors have contributed to poverty, however we have come to understand that one main factor is that resources are not properly distributed around the world. As a result, we see countries having more than enough resources, whereas other countries have barely enough resources for a decent living of their people. We believe that our world can be a much better place for everyone, if the world’s resources can be distributed where they are really needed. The problem is that many people having the skills and talent in various domains are not able to make a living for themselves due to different barriers. These barriers could be the lack or absence of finance, resources or even the required know-how. Our solution is a system called iSponsor, which will seek to break these barriers and allow these people to achieve their dreams. There is currently a huge gap between people who are capable of providing help and those who are in need of this help. iSponsor seeks to provide an ideal solution by creating an environment where sponsors and beneficiaries would be able to interact and link up in a direct partnership. Furthermore, iSponsor is not limited to single sponsor-beneficiary relationships. To reduce poverty at a global level, this will not be enough. Hence, iSponsor will also allow groups of sponsors and beneficiaries to form communities according to their interests and aspirations. As a final note, we believe that simply providing donations is not a lasting solution for poverty. This is why iSponsor will allow beneficiaries to obtain all the help they need, to start making a living for them so that, they will in turn, be able to offer their own services to the world.

Confucius has once said that it’s better to give a fishing rod to a farmer than giving educational equipment to his child because with the continues income sources the breadwinner of the family can earn money for a much longer time if he is supervised well. To do that, the project IdealLanka presents a technology based platform for the rural community to do their occupations in an efficient manner with less wastage and higher quality. The Project IdealLanka identifies 5 main problems faced by the rural villages.

Lack of ability to find the initial capital.
Lack of access to information which
Lack of ability on making decisions
    Lack of market expansion
Lack of knowledge in demand and supply management
To solve the above problems a web based solution will be introduced along with a PC and Mobile based sub systems. The computing facilities are provided by the existing centers like Nanasala, Sarvodaya, etc… The funders will register with the system as donors, lenders or investors. They can search for the people they want through an advanced GIS or the system provides the positive matches by running background algorithms. The Fund expected people will go through a computational questionnaire at a Resource center which will ask questions based on family background, education, market knowledge, etc… and finally with the aid of a multi agent system a report will be generated with details on how much to spend, best fertilizer types, improvements to the current way of thinking etc.. Meanwhile the system provides a wiki model to find the necessary information. The system also provides an online storefront and a centralized demand and supply management system to enhance the quality of the procedure. The system makes money via premium accounts, target advertising, platform fees and transaction fees.

Project: Deforestation Tracking and Inference System

Deforestation is one of the major contributors to global warming and climate change. Global warming is caused by an elevation in the green house gases that halo our planet. Atmospheric gases and ozone are responsible for impeding the loss of heat away from the Earth. The effect of global warming is further exacerbated by deforestation because the removal of densely forested areas decreases the number of the CO2 consuming vegetation. Indirectly, deforestation disrupts the delicate balance between the carbon dioxide produced and consumed. An increase in the concentration of carbon dioxide, along with other green house gases, leads to an increase in the global temperature.

Our deforestation tracking and inference system provides a solution to the above problem which is the seventh Millennium Development Goal of UN; our system delivers essential information to people in forest conservation of each country through satellite image comparisons.

The software is a fully compact tool kit to forest conservation departments of each country; it facilitates its uses to track deforestation through satellite image processing and also the software is equipped with tools to analyze data and provide critical information needed to combat deforestation. Our software is also capable of delivering future deforestation probabilities based on previous deforestation patterns.

Our product has a mobile application to be more usable in real outdoor forest tracking scenarios where it will be a tool to exchange information with the system and the forest ranger who is on site, it can be used to post live updates from the site through GPS pinpointing the exact location of the person.

We hope our software would be a great help to the concern authorities to combat deforestation in Sri Lanka and by reducing deforestation Sri Lanka can benefit from funds allocated through UNEP ‘s REDD Programme.
