Cross Flashing Sonyericsson K530 to W660!
Cross Flashing is the process of converting camera series phone to Walkman phone and vice versa.The advantage of flashing is camera phone gets Walkman player, Support flash themes, Sounds similar to Walkman series phone, Supports acoustic drivers etc
You must know Flashing before knowing Cross flashing, Cross flashing is a flashing procedure in which the similar made handsets firmware cross flashed. e.g. K750i and W800i, these both have the internal structure almost same so we can cross flash K750i into W800i and vice versa. A Cross flashed K750i to W800i will get the features of W800i like Walkman Player and Flash menu support & Mega Bass.so you can have the mixed phone Cybershot™ Walkman™
k530 can be easily flashed to w660
A k530 Camera series phone work great with no bugs when flashed to w660.
You will get Walkman player 2 with Megabass and flash menu support.
To flash k530 to w660 you need a
PROCEDURE
Here is the Tutorial for flashing k550 to w610 using XS++
Step 1 : Connect your phone to XS++
(You may have already downloaded them previously, no need of downloading them again!
)
Step 4 : Extract the Downloaded files.
Step 5 : Select flash on configuration menu
Step 6 : Select Flash main firmware check box, Browse for the downloaded file on your hard drive usually .mbn file select it
Step 7 :Select Flash File system Check Box,Browse for the downloaded file, usually .fbn file then select it
Step 8 : Select Customize file system
Step 9 : On phone model select own custpack
Step 10 : On select CDA and region select \own_custpack
Step 11 : Extract the custom pack downloaded and put all the files in a folder named own_custpack. Keep the folder own_custopack in the same directory where you have xs++
Note : Failing to do this will make your flashing process incomplete.
Step 12 : Now hit flash.
Now you can see in the status bar of XS++ about the progress of flashing. i.e. Flashing 3 out of 420 blocks
Wait patiently untill all blocks are flashed takes not more than 5 minutes. close the program. start the phone. enjoy walkman os on camera phone.
Now you can perform all customisations like Installing flah menus,Acoustics etc

PROCEDURE
Here is the Tutorial for flashing k550 to w610 using XS++
Step 1 : Connect your phone to XS++
Step 2 : Before proceeding to cross flashing, backup GDFS for safety concerns.If you don't know to use XS++, plz read this carefully
XS++ Can be used for flashing, FSX, to install flash themes,Acoustic drivers, menu icons, Graphics packages, Start up, shutdown screens,Fonts,Display drivers, Camera drivers,Walkman skins, Visualisations, To back up & restore GDFS & To patch.
Step 1: Download XS++ 3.1 from here
Step 2 : Download USB flash drivers from here
Step 3 : Install USB flash driver first (Gordan gate flash driver, ggsetup.exe)
Step 4 : Double click XS++ 3.1
Note : The program will not install, It will start automatically (Portable)
The program window appears like this:
Step 5: Select port as USB
Step 6: Select the Maximum Baud rate
Step 7: Keep Username, password, IP address as default
Step 8: For safety purposes keep the Charge on your phone above 90%
Step 9: Remove the simcard, Memory card for safety purposes
Step 10: Remove and reinsert the battery
Step 11: Start XS++
Step 12: Click connect on XS++ Window
Step 13: Connect the Phone to the PC via USB cable by continuously pressing "C" Button on your phone
If this is the first time you are connecting your phone to the PC, "Found new hardware" Wizard appears, Click on "Install hardware automatically" and then click next, you will be notified on the system tray as "SEMC FLASH DEVICE" then the hardware will be successfully installed.
IMPORTANT NOTE : Gordan Gate driver should be previously installed to accomplish this fact.This is one time process, from the next time onwards you don't need to install the drivers
After the new hardware is installed successfully the phone will be detected in XS++. (If not repeat from step 1)
After your phone is detected in XS++, The command window shows the list of information about your phone.
Carefully note the CID version, DB version, EROM & Firmware version.
IMPORTANT NOTE : CID 53 PHONES CANNOT BE FLASHED USING XS++. Also XS++ does not support FSX(File system exploration) of CID 53 phones. Trying to flash CID 53 phones using XS++ may damage your phone.
FAR MANAGER Supports Flashing & FSX of CID 53 phones.
(I will discuss about Far manager in a separate thread.)
Step 3 : Download the necessary filesIf you don't know how to backup GDFS, read this carefully!
GDFS is the phones “stash”, where all settings and calibration data is stored (this also goes for the firmwares IMEI-resource as well as the SIM locks). Similar to other brands use of NVRAM (Non-Volatile Random Access Memory).
GDFS contains a very important variables need to start phone.If the gdfs is corrupted then phone will not start thus turning to a dead phone. GDFS rarely gets damaged.But as a precaution we make a backup of GDFS so that in case your GDFS variables are messed up then we can restore the backup and save the phone !
Note : Your phone’s GDFS is unique to your phone

Step 3 : Click on Backup GDFS to backup your GDFS.you get your GDFS back up file in XS++ backup Directory.
Keep the copies of your GDFS safely.
If your phone Malfunctions or Doesn't start after any flashing or customisation procedure, If you restore GDFS you'll get your phone back to normal state.
