Custom and Laws in SL

hello everyone, i frequent the forum from time to time but I just registered now, so hello!

I just have a few questions and want to get refreshed on sri lankan customs and laws before coming there next spring break with my girlfriend, who came to the US pretty recently but some of the thing she says I can't believe or need verification.

would you really get kicked out of the beaches or parks for hanging out as couples or be unable to book hotel rooms? any specific rules regarding alcohol and where to get some weed, or are the laws too strict about that?

and what are some good romantic spots in sri lanka?

You can't hang around with your girl like in US... U know what I mean..

Hanging around is US and in SL are quite different ne...

But no to the second question... You can stay in hotels and in rooms as long as u can prove that the woman you are with is not a prostitute machang...

So definitely if you are with your girl, then no worries about that....

Weed...!! hmmm.. I don't know a place where you can get weed now since I'm outta the country for nearly 3 years now.

yeah i was not planning to get anyway, last thing I want is to get stuck with the law ruining my vacation.

other thing was whats the best way to travel around the place, renting a car? and I will be also meeting my girlfriends parents so anything customary I should take with me? or do?

haha,, aww I was planning on taking a few bottles of arrak there...

i thought the whole dowry thing was dead, whats the point or how does that work? marriage isn't on the plate so I don't think I will worry too much about that..
