Such items when brought in as passenger baggage in Commercial Quantities with a Certificate of Registration for Importation can be cleared on payment of Customs Duty, Other levies and a Penalty under the Customs Ordinance and non declaration of such items will be an offence under the Customs Ordinance. Passengers should consult a Customs Officer On Duty for any doubts. </span></u></strong></p><p></p><p>Passengers are required to declare upon arrival valuable personal effects to ensure free export.</p><p></p><p>Prohibited:</p><p>- dangerous drugs or narcotic substances;</p><p>- pornographic or seditious materials;</p><p>- any material ridiculing any religious belief.</p><p></p><p>Restricted:</p><p>- fire arms, ammunitions, explosives and weapons;</p><p>- pharmaceuticals and medicines, except for personal use;</p><p>- goods for commercial or trade purposes, except trade samples;</p><p>- plants, fruits, birds and their products. In case of import, a permit from the Director General of Agriculture of Sri Lanka as well as a Phytosanitary Certificate must be obtained prior to travel.
