Daily News and Sunday Observer editors removed
(Lanka-e-News, December 09, 2008, 8.30 AM) Veteran journalist Jayathilaka de Silva was appointed as the Editor-in-Chief of the state-owned Daily News and Sunday Observer newspapers.
Daily News Editor Pramod Silva was appointed as the Assistant Editor of the newspaper. Sunday Observer editor Dinesh Weerawansa was also appointed as Assistant Editor of the newspaper.
The reasons behind the removal of the editors is said to be the decline of sale, the quality decline of Sunday Observer and non conformity with the government’s politics.
